Te waka Dragons - Brisbane Dragon Boat Racing

Welcome to Te Waka Dragons and to the sport of dragon boating!

Dragon boating is one of the oldest sports in the world - simply, a long canoe-like boat is powered by a team of paddlers working together.

From the social nature of recreational paddling to the competitiveness of racing, this sport has something for everyone.

We invite you to experience dragon boating and all it has to offer.

Te Waka Dragons training ground is only 5 kms from Brisbane CBD, at Breakfast Creek, Newstead.

The club has become increasing competitive in recent years, with great results at both State and National Level. Our results at the 2011 Queensland State Titles held at Kawana Waters are the best in the club's history. APPEAL FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Our club boats were vandalised beyone repair by unknown persons over the Christmas/New Year period. Up until Christmas we had been fundraising and training hard in order to send our strongest crew to Hong Kong to compete at the 2012 World Club Crew Championships in July this year and hopefully to bring home world championship medals. Unfortunately due to the severe damage sustained to all 3 of our racing boats we are unable to train to the standard required to compete at a world championship level.

We are seeking the support of the wider community to assist with cost of replacing the boats - up to $10K each as well as the costs to ship them from overseas.
