Welcome Formed in 2000 on the Gold Coast, Australia, Te Waka Taniwha Dragonboat Club Inc has a membership reflecting paddlers from diverse cultures, ages and backgrounds. After months of relative obscurity, Te Waka Taniwha has emerged as a competitive force within the dragonboat racing arena, both locally and nationally.
Join Us Join the fastest growing water sport in the world - right here in Brisbane! We invite you to experience the fun, excitement and camaraderie that dragonboating has to offer. Te Waka Taniwha Dragon Boat Club aims to provide a club which allows everyone in the community to participate in this fun water sport - including students, special interest groups and social paddlers. Our paddlers come from all ages and backgrounds. While dragon boating is the common link, it is also our goal to have fun while pushing personal limits of fitness and endurance. Newcomers to dragonboat paddling are always welcome to give it a go. Dragonboating is ideal for all shapes, sizes and abilities. No experience is necessary. All you need to bring is a water bottle and a change of clothes (yes, you do get wet!). Dragonboating offers the opportunity to meet new people and to improve your fitness in a fun and social environment. Latest News and Galleries With the threat of rain, Te Waka hosted yet another very successful Come ‘N’ Try Day on Sunday, 17 February with over 50 participants turning up to experience the sport of dragonboating.
Previous News and Galleries On Sunday 20 January Te Waka hosted a very successful Come ‘N’ Try Day and also celebrated the arrival of their four new boats, 2 x 20-paddler boats and 2 x 10-paddler boats, with a traditional Chinese ceremony performed by local Buddhist monks to bless the boats for successful and safe future journeys.
